Founder's story 
 
Ben Schadrac is the founder of War Survivors Ministries. He survived the genocide of the Rwandan Tutsi people that wiped out more than 1,000,000 Rwandan Tutsi people in about 100 days in 1994. Before the 1994 genocide, Ben survived also the tutsi massacre of 1962 when he was 5 years old, and in 1973 when he was in high school, he survived for the second time the isolated killing of Tutsi in schools, working place all over the country.  Ben came in the US in September 1994 as refugee, he went to college and worked for different employers in human services positions. Currently, Ben is working for the Florida State Correctional Institution as a mental health Specialist, helping the inmates to be ready for their reintree in society. Working with multiple inmates as young as 20 years old.  He likes helping struggling people showing them the way to true freedom, by accepting Jesus Christ in their lives and making right decisions in their lives. 

Ben is very familiar with hardship in life. He is the first and the only one in his entire family of origin who was able to have a high school diploma. After his high school in 1979, he went on and he received a Law degree in 1983 from the National University of Rwanda. After surviving the Rwandan Tutsi genocide in 1994, he found asylum in US Florida, with his wife and children. He went back to college and received a Bachelor degree in Organizational management from Warner Southern University in 1996.  In 2000, he obtained a Masters degree in Mental Health from Webster University. He finds fulfilment helping other people in need. IServing is his way of saying thank you to God who rescued him from death over and over again.
